Possible Causes

Damaged proximity (PP) pin in J1772 connector, Broken proximity wire in output cable, Faulty PP detection circuit on main board, Debris preventing full insertion of connector into vehicle inlet

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn OFF power before opening the charger. External connector checks can be done with power on but do not touch metal contacts.

  • 1. Inspect connector fit: Plug the J1772 connector into the vehicle and ensure it clicks fully into place. If it feels loose or does not latch, inspect the latch mechanism and vehicle inlet for debris or damage.
  • 2. Examine the PP pin: Look closely at the small proximity pin in the connector. If bent, recessed, or corroded, the charger may not detect a proper connection. Clean with contact cleaner and a soft brush; replace the connector if the pin is damaged.
  • 3. Wiggle test: With the vehicle connected and charger powered, gently move the cable near the connector. If E07 appears or clears with movement, the proximity conductor inside the cable may be broken; replace the output cable assembly.
  • 4. Internal wiring check (qualified only): With power OFF, open the charger and verify the proximity wire is securely connected to the main control board terminal. Tighten or re-terminate if loose.
  • 5. Board-level fault: If wiring and connector are good but E07 persists across multiple vehicles, the PP detection circuit on the main control board is likely faulty and the board should be replaced.

When to call a professional: If connector replacement or board replacement is needed, contact a qualified EVSE technician.
