Possible Causes
Failed RTC chip on main board, Depleted RTC backup battery (if present), Firmware bug affecting timekeeping, Corrupted configuration data
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF power before opening the charger. Most RTC issues are low-voltage but still require caution.
- 1. Reset time settings: Using the display or app, manually set the correct date and time. Save and observe if the charger keeps time after a power cycle.
- 2. Firmware update (if supported): Check with Besenergy for any firmware updates that address RTC issues. Apply updates only via official methods.
- 3. Internal battery check (qualified): Some models use a small coin-cell battery to back up the RTC. With power OFF and cover removed, locate and test/replace this battery if present.
- 4. Factory reset: Perform a factory reset of the charger configuration (note: this will erase schedules and custom settings). Reconfigure schedules and test again.
- 5. Board replacement: If the charger cannot maintain time or E17 persists, the RTC circuit on the main control board is likely defective and the board should be replaced.
When to call a professional: For board replacement or if firmware updates are required, contact Besenergy support.
