Possible Causes
Repeated sharp bending or pinching of cable, UV exposure degrading outer jacket, Vehicle running over cable, Animal chewing
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not use the charger if the cable insulation is compromised. Turn off power at the breaker.
Steps to troubleshoot:
- Inspect entire length: Run your hand (with gloves) along the cable to feel for cuts, flat spots, or stiffness.
- Do not tape over: Electrical tape is not an acceptable repair for EVSE cables.
- Replace assembly: Order and install a Blink-approved replacement J1772 cable and handle assembly. Ensure proper strain relief at the cable gland.
Using a damaged cable risks shock, fire, and vehicle damage. Always replace rather than repair the cable.
