Possible Causes
Failed RFID reader module, Damaged RFID antenna, Loose data cable between RFID reader and main board, Corrupted user authorization database
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power before opening the enclosure to access the RFID module.
Steps to troubleshoot:
- Test multiple cards/fobs: Try more than one authorized RFID card to rule out a bad card.
- Clean reader surface: Wipe the RFID reader area with a soft, dry cloth to remove dirt or moisture.
- Check indicator LEDs: Observe if the reader’s LED (if present) responds when a card is presented. No response suggests power or module failure.
- Inspect connections: With power OFF, open the Blink unit and locate the RFID reader cable. Ensure it is firmly connected to both the reader and the main control board.
- Database refresh: For networked units, sync or refresh the authorization list via the Blink management portal.
If the reader remains unresponsive, replace the RFID reader module or associated harness as specified by Blink.
