If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Only a qualified electrician should work on three-phase circuits. Turn off the main and Wallbox breakers before opening any covers.
- Check upstream breakers: Verify that all three phase breakers feeding the Wallbox are ON and not tripped.
- Inspect terminal block: With power off, confirm that L1, L2, and L3 conductors are correctly landed and tightened in the BMW Wallbox input terminals.
- Measure phase voltages: Have an electrician measure voltage between each pair of phases and to neutral. Significant deviation indicates a supply issue.
- Test single-phase mode (if supported): Some BMW Wallboxes can operate in single-phase mode; configure accordingly and test.
If E13 persists with a healthy three-phase supply, the internal phase detection circuit or current sensors may be faulty. A BMW-authorized technician should replace the main control board or sensor assembly.
