Possible Causes

Blocked ventilation openings, Failed internal cooling fan, High ambient temperature in garage, Faulty temperature sensor on heatsink or PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn OFF power before cleaning vents or opening the unit. Do not cover the charger with cloths or boxes.

  • Check ventilation: Ensure there is at least the Bosch-recommended clearance around the charger. Remove any items blocking side or bottom vents.
  • Clean dust buildup: With power OFF, gently vacuum dust from external vents. Do not insert tools or liquids into the housing.
  • Monitor ambient temperature: If the charger is installed in a small, unventilated space or in direct sun, temperatures can exceed limits. Improve ventilation or shading.
  • Listen for fan: During a charging session (when error is intermittent), you should hear the internal fan run. If the unit gets hot to the touch and the fan never runs, the fan or its driver may have failed.
  • Service for sensor/fan: Replacement of the internal cooling fan or temperature sensor requires opening the enclosure and should be done by a qualified technician.
