Possible Causes
Damaged Type 2 charge cable pilot conductor, Bent or contaminated pins in BYD wallbox Type 2 socket, Faulty control pilot (CP) driver circuit on main control PCB, Defective proximity (PP) sensing circuit on main control PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off the BYD home charger at the dedicated breaker and isolate power before touching any wiring. Never work on the charger while energized.
- Inspect the vehicle connector: Check the Type 2 plug for bent, recessed, or burnt pins. Clean light debris with a soft brush; do not use metal tools.
- Check the wallbox socket: Look into the BYD charger Type 2 socket for dirt, corrosion, or heat discoloration. If you see melting or heavy pitting, stop and contact a technician.
- Try a different cable (if detachable): If your BYD charger uses a detachable Type 2 cable, test with a known-good cable. If E01 disappears, replace the original cable.
- Power-cycle the charger: Turn off the breaker for 2 minutes, then restore power and retry. Sometimes the CP/PP monitoring circuit latches a fault that clears on reboot.
- If the error persists: The CP/PP driver or sensing circuit on the main control PCB may be faulty. Do not attempt board-level repair yourself; contact a qualified EVSE technician or BYD support.
