Possible Causes
Leakage current detected by BYD RCD module, Moisture ingress in Type 2 connector, Damaged insulation in output cable harness, Faulty residual current sensor on main control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not repeatedly reset a ground fault without inspection. Turn off the charger at the breaker before opening any covers.
- Check for moisture: Inspect the vehicle inlet and the BYD connector for water, condensation, or snow. Dry thoroughly with a clean cloth and allow 30–60 minutes for evaporation.
- Inspect the cable: Run your hand along the cable (with power off) to feel for cuts, kinks, or crushed sections. If the outer jacket is damaged, discontinue use and replace the cable.
- Reset the charger: After drying and inspection, switch the breaker off for 2 minutes, then back on. Attempt a new charging session.
- Try another vehicle (if possible): If E02 only occurs with one vehicle, the leakage may be on the vehicle side; consult the vehicle manufacturer.
- Persistent E02 with multiple vehicles: The internal RCD / residual current sensor may be defective. This is a safety-critical component; contact a licensed electrician or BYD service for replacement.
