Possible Causes
Loose or missing earth connection in BYD charger supply wiring, High resistance earth due to corroded ground bar, Faulty PE sensing circuit on main control PCB, Incorrectly wired supply (reversed line/neutral/earth)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Earth faults can be dangerous. If you are not trained, do not open the charger. Turn off power at the main breaker feeding the charger.
- Visual check of supply: Confirm the charger’s supply cable is firmly connected at the distribution board and that the earth conductor is present and secure.
- Test another grounded outlet (if portable BYD unit): Plug the charger into a different, properly grounded circuit to see if E03 clears.
- Have an electrician test grounding: A qualified electrician should measure earth continuity and impedance from the BYD charger chassis to the main earth bar.
- Check for DIY modifications: If any recent electrical work was done, ensure no one removed or shared the earth incorrectly.
- If wiring is correct: The internal PE monitoring circuit on the main control PCB may be faulty and requires professional replacement.
