Possible Causes

Dirty or oxidized pins on J1772 connector, Weak control pilot signal due to marginal wiring, Vehicle onboard charger fault, Misconfigured charge limits in vehicle or app

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn OFF the breaker before cleaning the connector.

Steps to try:

  • Clean connector: Use a soft, dry brush or compressed air (low pressure) to remove dust and debris from the J1772 pins. Do not use liquids or abrasives.
  • Check vehicle settings: In the vehicle’s charging menu, ensure charging is enabled at this location and that any location-based limits are not preventing charging.
  • Try another charger: If possible, plug the vehicle into a different Level 2 charger to see if it charges normally. If not, the issue may be with the vehicle.
  • Power cycle charger: Turn the breaker OFF for 2 minutes, then ON, and attempt charging again.

When to call a technician: If the vehicle charges fine elsewhere but not on your Cadillac EV Home Charger, an EVSE technician should test the pilot signal and internal wiring and replace the cable or control board if necessary.
