Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the dedicated breaker to the Cadillac EV Home Charger before touching the unit or cable. Do not work on the charger while it is energized.
Steps to try:
- Power cycle the charger: Turn the breaker OFF for 2 minutes, then ON. Reconnect the vehicle and see if E01 clears.
- Inspect the J1772 connector: Look closely at the small pilot pin (usually the thin pin near the top). Check for bending, corrosion, or debris. Clean gently with a soft, dry brush; do not use metal tools.
- Check for cable strain: Make sure the cable from the wall unit to the handle is not sharply kinked, crushed, or cut. If the insulation is damaged, stop using the charger.
- Test with another EV (if available): If another J1772-compatible vehicle charges normally, the issue may be on the vehicle side. If E01 appears with multiple vehicles, the charger is at fault.
- Reset and re‑test: After inspection, restore power and plug in again. If E01 persists, the control pilot circuit or harness is likely damaged and requires professional service.
When to call a technician: If the pilot pin is damaged, the cable is compromised, or E01 returns after power cycling, contact a qualified EVSE technician or Cadillac Energy Products support to replace the connector assembly or control board.
