Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: A ground fault can be hazardous. Turn OFF the breaker feeding the Cadillac EV Home Charger immediately. Do not attempt to bypass safety features.
Steps to try:
- Inspect for moisture: Check the J1772 connector and the area around the wall unit for signs of water, condensation, or snow/ice. If wet, allow everything to dry completely (at least several hours) before re‑energizing.
- Check for visible damage: Look for burn marks, melted plastic, or cuts in the cable. If any are present, do not use the charger.
- Verify ground connection (visual only): At the service panel, confirm the charger’s circuit uses a proper copper ground conductor and that the breaker lugs appear tight (do not touch live parts; if unsure, call an electrician).
- Power cycle: After drying and visual inspection, turn the breaker ON and try again. If E02 appears immediately, the internal GFCI module may be tripping due to a persistent fault.
When to call a technician: If E02 persists after drying and power cycling, or if you see any damage to the cable or enclosure, contact a licensed electrician or Cadillac-authorized EVSE service provider. The GFCI module or cable assembly may need replacement.
