Possible Causes

Faulty control pilot resistor network on control board, Damaged pilot conductor in cable, Corroded pins in J1772 connector, Software state machine error in charger firmware

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn OFF the breaker before inspecting the connector closely.

Steps to try:

  • Inspect connector pins: Look for green/white corrosion, bent pins, or contamination. Clean gently with a dry, non‑metallic brush.
  • Check cable routing: Ensure the cable is not pinched in a door, under a tire, or wrapped too tightly around the holster, which can stress internal conductors.
  • Firmware reset: Turn the breaker OFF for 5 minutes to fully discharge the electronics, then ON. Some state machine faults clear after a full power reset.
  • Test with another EV: If available, plug into a different vehicle to rule out a vehicle-side issue.

When to call a technician: Persistent E08 suggests a failed pilot circuit or internal resistor network. A technician should test continuity of the pilot conductor and may need to replace the cable assembly or control board.
