How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Danger: Damaged insulation can expose live conductors. Do not use the charger until the cable is replaced.
- Step 1 – Stop using immediately:
- Unplug from vehicle and turn OFF breaker.
- Step 2 – Inspect extent of damage:
- Identify all damaged sections along the cable.
- Step 3 – Do not tape as a permanent fix:
- Electrical tape is not an acceptable repair for EVSE cables.
- Step 4 – Replace cable assembly:
- Have a qualified technician replace the entire EVSE output cable & J1772 connector assembly with an OEM part.
- Step 5 – Prevent recurrence:
- Use a cable management hook or reel to keep the cable off the ground when not in use.
