How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Note: Determine whether the stop is initiated by the EV or the charger using the app logs.
- Step 1 – Check app session details:
- Open the ChargePoint app and review the session history.
- If it says "Ended by driver/EV", the vehicle likely stopped the charge.
- Step 2 – Inspect connector fit:
- Ensure the J1772 plug is fully seated and latched.
- Check for play or looseness; if excessive, the connector may be worn.
- Step 3 – Temperature check:
- After a short session, carefully feel the J1772 handle and vehicle inlet.
- If very hot to the touch, stop using and inspect for damage.
- Step 4 – Cable replacement:
- If moving the cable causes charging to stop, the internal conductors or pilot line may be intermittent.
- Replace the EVSE output cable & J1772 connector assembly.
- Step 5 – Vehicle settings:
- Disable any charge limits or schedules in the vehicle to rule out software stops.
