Possible Causes
Firmware incompatibility with specific Chevrolet or other EV models, Corrupted firmware on charger control board, Unstable pilot signal timing, Vehicle-side charging module sensitivity
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: This is a logic-level communication issue; no special electrical hazard beyond normal use.
- Step 1 – Test with another EV: If possible, plug in a different EV. If it charges normally, the issue may be specific to one vehicle model or its onboard charger.
- Step 2 – Update charger firmware: Use the Chevrolet app or web portal to check for and apply firmware updates to the home charger.
- Step 3 – Update vehicle software: Ensure the EV itself has the latest software via the dealer or over-the-air updates.
- Step 4 – Power reset: Turn OFF the breaker for 5 minutes, then turn it back ON to clear any transient logic faults.
- Step 5 – Contact support: If E12 persists with a specific vehicle, contact Chevrolet EV support with charger model, firmware version, and vehicle VIN for compatibility guidance.
