How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Cold conditions are generally safe electrically, but ice can damage connectors.
- Step 1 – Warm the environment: If possible, close the garage and use safe space heating to bring the area closer to room temperature. Do not use open flames near electrical equipment.
- Step 2 – Inspect for ice: Check the J1772 connector and cable for ice buildup. Allow ice to melt naturally; do not use boiling water.
- Step 3 – Power reset: After the unit has warmed, turn OFF the breaker for 5 minutes, then turn it back ON and test.
- Step 4 – Sensor check: If E17 appears even at normal temperatures, the temperature sensor or its wiring on the control board may be faulty.
- Step 5 – Service: Have a technician test and replace the temperature sensor or main PCB as needed.
