Possible Causes
Moisture or conductive dust inside charger, Damaged insulation on internal wiring, Failed insulation monitoring device (if equipped), Water ingress through conduit or cable gland
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: This can indicate a shock hazard. Turn OFF the breaker and do not use the charger until inspected.
- Step 1 – Inspect for water: Remove the cover and look for water droplets, rust, or mineral tracks. If present, dry the unit thoroughly and identify the leak path.
- Step 2 – Check conduit and glands: Ensure that conduit entries and cable glands are sealed and oriented to prevent water entry.
- Step 3 – Clean contamination: With power OFF, gently clean any dust or debris from the PCB and wiring using dry compressed air.
- Step 4 – Insulation test (electrician): Have an electrician perform insulation resistance tests on the branch circuit and internal wiring.
- Step 5 – Replace damaged parts: Any wiring with damaged insulation or a failed insulation monitoring device must be replaced before returning the charger to service.
