Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: This is a serious safety condition. Turn OFF the breaker immediately and do not use the EVSE until repaired.
- Verify de-energized: With a qualified electrician, confirm there is no voltage at the J1772 power pins when the breaker is OFF.
- Contactor test (power OFF): Open the EVSE and measure continuity across the contactor power poles. If continuity exists with the coil de-energized, the contacts are welded.
- Inspect for damage: Look for signs of overheating or melted insulation around the contactor and wiring.
The contactor must be replaced, and the control board and wiring inspected for damage. Do not attempt to free welded contacts manually.
