Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not tape over or bypass GFCI functions. Turn OFF the breaker before opening the unit.
- Dry environment: Move the cable and handle to a dry location and allow them to dry thoroughly for 24 hours.
- Inspect seals: Check the EVSE enclosure gasket and cable entry gland for cracks or gaps that could allow water in. Replace damaged gaskets.
- Check cable jacket: Look for cuts or splits in the outer jacket, especially where the cable flexes. Any breach can wick moisture inside.
- Internal inspection (qualified): With power OFF, inspect the GFCI sensor ring and control board for signs of moisture or corrosion. Clean and dry as needed.
If nuisance trips continue in dry conditions, the GFCI sensor or control board may be overly sensitive or damaged and should be replaced.
