STATUS LED flashing 8 times repeatedly (8-blink pattern), EVSE remains in fault state.
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the breaker before opening the EVSE. Internal components are not user-serviceable at chip level.
- Power reset: Turn OFF the breaker for at least 5 minutes to fully discharge internal capacitors, then turn ON and observe if the pattern persists.
- Inspect for surge damage: With power OFF, remove the cover and look for burned components, cracked ICs, or soot on the control board.
- Check low-voltage outputs (advanced): A qualified technician can measure the control board's low-voltage rails (e.g., 5 V, 12 V) to confirm proper operation.
- Surge protection: If a surge event is suspected, consider adding a whole-home surge protector or dedicated surge device for the EVSE after repair.
Persistent 8-blink internal fault generally requires replacement of the entire control board assembly. Field repair of individual components is not recommended.
