EVSE emits a high-pitched whining noise during charging, louder than when new.

Safety first: Noise alone is not usually dangerous, but any change in sound should be investigated with power OFF before opening the unit.

• Localize noise: With the cover on, listen to identify whether the sound comes from the contactor area or control board.
• Inspect components (power OFF): Check that the contactor and board are firmly mounted and that no mounting screws are loose.
• Monitor temperature: Ensure the noisy component is not overheating during operation.

If noise is accompanied by overheating, erratic operation, or burning smell, replace the suspect component (contactor or control board). Otherwise, it may be a benign aging characteristic.
