Charger emits a loud humming or buzzing noise during operation, louder than normal fan noise.

Safety first: Some hum is normal, but sudden increases or rattling should be investigated.

• Step 1 – Identify source: With the charger running, carefully listen to locate whether the noise comes from the fan, contactor, or power module (do not touch internal parts while energized).
• Step 2 – Check mounting (power OFF): Tighten mounting screws for the contactor, transformers, and inductors to reduce vibration.
• Step 3 – Inspect contactor: Look for signs of wear or overheating. A chattering contactor may need replacement.
• Step 4 – Fan check: Ensure the fan blades are not hitting wiring or the housing.
• Step 5 – Replace noisy components: If noise persists and is traced to a specific component, replace that component with an Electrify America‑approved part.
