Possible Causes
Stuck safety relay contacts, Faulty relay coil, Incorrect feedback wiring, Control board self‑test circuit failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Safety relays prevent live voltage at the connector. Do not bypass or jumper these components.
- Step 1 – Power reset: Turn OFF the breaker for 5 minutes, then ON. Observe whether E12 reappears immediately.
- Step 2 – Listen for relay clicks: During startup, you should hear one or more distinct relay clicks. Absence or continuous chatter suggests a relay issue.
- Step 3 – Visual inspection (power OFF): Open the enclosure and locate the safety relays (smaller than the main contactor). Check for discoloration or cracked housings.
- Step 4 – Check feedback wiring: Ensure the feedback wires from the relay contacts to the control board are intact and properly connected.
- Step 5 – Replace defective relay module: If a relay appears damaged or fails continuity tests (qualified technician), replace the relay or relay board with Electrify America‑approved parts.
- Step 6 – Control board replacement: If relays test good but self‑test still fails, the control board self‑test circuit may be defective and require board replacement.
