Possible Causes
Dirty or damaged J1772 pins, Weak pilot signal from charger, Vehicle software issue, Loose pilot or proximity connection inside charger
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power before opening the charger. Do not insert tools into the vehicle inlet.
- Step 1 – Unplug and replug: Remove the J1772 connector, wait 10 seconds, and firmly reinsert until the latch clicks.
- Step 2 – Inspect connector: Check the "Electrify Home" handle pins for dirt, corrosion, or physical damage. Clean gently with a dry brush.
- Step 3 – Try another charger: Test the vehicle at a different EVSE to rule out a vehicle‑side issue.
- Step 4 – Internal harness check: With power OFF, open the charger and verify that the cable harness connector to the main control board is fully seated.
- Step 5 – Firmware update: Update both the charger firmware and the vehicle software if updates are available.
