Possible Causes

Internal ground fault sensor trip on main control board, Moisture inside charge handle, Damaged insulation in output cable, Faulty ground fault current transformer (GFCI CT)

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Do not attempt to bypass ground fault protection. Turn off the EV charger breaker before touching wiring or opening the enclosure.

  • Step 1 – Inspect for moisture: Check the J1772 handle and the area around the vehicle inlet for water, snow, or condensation. Dry thoroughly with a clean cloth and allow 30–60 minutes for any internal moisture to evaporate.
  • Step 2 – Visual cable inspection: Look for cuts, abrasions, or crushed spots on the "Electrify Home" output cable. Any visible damage can cause leakage to ground and must be addressed by replacing the cable assembly.
  • Step 3 – Check installation environment: Ensure the charger is not being sprayed by sprinklers or exposed to direct heavy rain if wall‑mounted outdoors. Verify that all conduit entries are sealed and the rear gasket is intact.
  • Step 4 – Power reset: Turn the breaker OFF for 5 minutes, then ON. Plug into the vehicle again. If E02 clears and does not return, it may have been a transient event.
  • Step 5 – Internal check (technician level): With power OFF and cover removed, inspect the ground fault current transformer ring on the output conductors. Ensure the harness from the CT to the main control board is firmly connected and not damaged.
  • Do not continue use: If E02 recurs frequently, discontinue use and have the unit professionally tested. Persistent ground faults indicate a serious safety issue.
