Possible Causes

Open ground connection at charger terminal block, Loose ground lug in service panel, Corroded ground bonding screw in charger, Faulty ground sensing circuit on main control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: A missing ground is dangerous. Do not operate the charger until ground continuity is restored. Turn off the breaker before inspection.

  • Step 1 – Inspect ground conductor: With power OFF, remove the charger cover and verify that the green or bare copper ground wire is securely attached to the ground terminal or bonding point inside the "Electrify Home" unit.
  • Step 2 – Check for corrosion: Look for rust or corrosion on the ground lug or bonding screw. Clean or replace as needed to ensure a solid metal‑to‑metal connection.
  • Step 3 – Panel ground check: Have an electrician verify that the ground conductor is properly landed in the main service panel and that the grounding electrode system is intact.
  • Step 4 – Continuity test: A qualified person can test continuity between the charger chassis and the service ground to confirm a low‑resistance path.
  • Step 5 – Board sensing fault: If grounding is confirmed good but E09 persists, the ground sensing circuit on the main control board may be defective and require replacement.
