Possible Causes
Failed connector lock solenoid in J1772 handle dock, Jammed mechanical lock pin, Broken lock position sensor, Faulty lock driver circuit on main control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not force the connector out of the vehicle. Turn off power at the breaker before attempting mechanical release.
- Step 1 – Stop charging: Use the app or front panel to stop the charging session, then wait for the lock to release.
- Step 2 – Power off: Turn off the breaker to de‑energize the charger. Some locks release automatically when power is removed.
- Step 3 – Manual release: If your "Electrify Home" model has a manual release tab or access port near the connector dock, follow the manual to mechanically release the lock.
- Step 4 – Inspect for debris: Check the lock mechanism for dirt, ice, or foreign objects preventing movement. Clean carefully.
- Step 5 – Electrical check: With power OFF and cover removed, inspect the lock solenoid wiring and connector on the main control board. If the solenoid is open or shorted, replace the lock assembly.
