Possible Causes
Damaged J1772/Type 2 charge connector, Faulty pilot signal circuit on control board, Broken pilot wire in charge cable, Contaminated or bent connector pins
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF power to the charger at the breaker before touching the connector or opening the unit. Do not work on live circuits.
- Step 1 – Power cycle: Turn the charger OFF at the breaker for 2–3 minutes, then turn it back ON. Reconnect the vehicle and check if E01 clears.
- Step 2 – Inspect the connector: Examine the Enel X charge handle (J1772 or Type 2) for bent, recessed, or corroded pins. Clean light debris with a dry, soft brush. Do not use liquids or metal tools.
- Step 3 – Check cable strain: Look for kinks, cuts, or crushed sections along the Enel X charge cable. If the cable jacket is damaged or feels soft/flat in one area, the pilot conductor may be broken.
- Step 4 – Test with another EV: If possible, try a different vehicle. If E01 appears with multiple vehicles, the issue is likely in the charger, not the car.
- Step 5 – Internal inspection (advanced): With power OFF, remove the front cover. Locate the control board and the cable harness connector labeled for the pilot line. Check for loose or burnt pins. Do not modify the board; if damage is visible, the board or cable assembly must be replaced.
- When to stop: If the cable or connector is damaged, or if E01 persists after these checks, replace the charge cable/connector assembly or contact an authorized Enel X service technician.
