Possible Causes

Faulty proximity switch in connector, Broken proximity wire in cable harness, Defective connector latch mechanism, Fault on control board proximity input

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Switch OFF the circuit breaker feeding the Enel X charger before inspection.

  • Step 1 – Check connector latch: Insert the connector into the vehicle and ensure the latch clicks firmly. A weak or stuck latch can prevent proper proximity detection.
  • Step 2 – Inspect connector button: On J1772 handles, press and release the trigger/button several times to free any sticking mechanism. Look for physical damage or missing spring tension.
  • Step 3 – Visual cable check: Run your hand along the cable (with power OFF) to feel for breaks or crushed spots that could damage the proximity conductor.
  • Step 4 – App/firmware check: Open the Enel X app and confirm the charger firmware is up to date. Apply any pending updates and reboot the charger.
  • Step 5 – Internal harness check (advanced): With power OFF and cover removed, locate the cable harness connector on the main control board. Ensure the proximity wire bundle is fully seated and not burnt or loose.
  • Resolution: If mechanical damage is found on the handle or cable, replace the charge cable and connector assembly. If the harness is intact but E02 persists, the main control board may require replacement by a qualified technician.
