Possible Causes
Open ground conductor in supply wiring, Loose ground terminal inside charger, Corroded or undersized ground connection, Faulty ground sensing circuit on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Critical safety warning: A missing or poor ground is dangerous. Do not attempt to bypass ground detection. Turn OFF power at the breaker and do not use the charger until the issue is resolved.
- Step 1 – Visual supply check: With power OFF, remove the charger cover and inspect the incoming ground (PE) conductor at the terminal block. Ensure it is securely clamped and not corroded.
- Step 2 – Tighten terminals: Using an insulated screwdriver, gently tighten the ground terminal screw and verify the line and neutral terminals are also secure.
- Step 3 – Panel/bonding check: Have a qualified electrician verify that the service panel ground and bonding are correct and that the circuit feeding the Enel X charger has a continuous ground back to the panel.
- Step 4 – Test with meter (electrician): Measure continuity between the charger ground terminal and the main panel ground bar. High resistance or open circuit indicates a wiring issue.
- Step 5 – Control board check: If wiring and ground are confirmed good, the internal ground sensing circuit on the main control board may be defective and require replacement.
