Possible Causes

Welded main contactor contacts, Faulty contactor coil, Control board relay driver failure, Shorted output causing contactor damage

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: A welded contactor can leave the output live even when the charger appears off. Turn OFF the upstream breaker before opening the unit.

  • Step 1 – Power cycle: Turn OFF the breaker for 2–3 minutes, then turn it back ON and check if E09 clears. If not, proceed.
  • Step 2 – Listen for contactor: When starting a charge, you should hear a distinct click from the internal contactor. No click or continuous hum suggests a fault.
  • Step 3 – Visual inspection: With power OFF and cover removed, locate the main contactor. Look for burn marks, melted plastic, or discoloration.
  • Step 4 – Mechanical test (advanced): With power OFF, gently press the contactor armature (if accessible) to see if it moves freely. A stuck mechanism indicates replacement is needed.
  • Step 5 – Replace contactor: Label and disconnect the wires, remove the faulty contactor, and install an identical Enel X-specified main contactor. Ensure all connections are tight.
  • Step 6 – Board check: If a new contactor does not resolve E09, the relay driver circuit on the main control board may be defective and require replacement.
