Possible Causes
Broken pilot conductor in cable, Disconnected pilot wire at control board, Damaged connector pin, Faulty pilot sensing circuit on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn OFF power at the breaker before opening the charger or handling wiring.
- Step 1 – Inspect connector pin: Check the pilot pin in the connector for being recessed, broken, or missing. If damaged, the cable must be replaced.
- Step 2 – Wiggle test: With power OFF, gently flex the cable near the handle and near the charger housing. A cable that feels loose or crackles may have internal breaks.
- Step 3 – Internal harness check: Remove the cover and verify that the pilot wire is securely connected to the main control board terminal or plug.
- Step 4 – Continuity test (advanced): Disconnect the cable from the board and test continuity of the pilot conductor from the board end to the connector pin. An open reading indicates a broken wire.
- Resolution: Replace the charge cable and connector assembly if the pilot is open. If the cable is intact but E12 remains, the pilot sensing circuit on the main control board is likely faulty.
