Possible Causes

Dirty or damaged J1772 pins, Weak pilot signal due to cable damage, Vehicle inlet contamination, Incompatible or outdated vehicle firmware

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Turn OFF the charger breaker before cleaning or closely inspecting connectors.

  • Inspect J1772 connector: Check all pins for discoloration, pitting, or bending. Clean gently with a dry, soft brush. Do not use solvents or sprays.
  • Inspect vehicle inlet: Look into the vehicle charge port for debris, insects, or corrosion. Clean per vehicle manufacturer's instructions.
  • Try another EVSE: Test the vehicle at a public charger. If it also fails, the issue is likely with the vehicle.
  • Try another vehicle: If another EV charges fine on your Enphase unit, contact your vehicle dealer for diagnostics.
  • If multiple vehicles fail on this charger: The pilot or proximity circuits in the Enphase cable or control board may be degraded. Schedule service to test and replace the cable assembly or board.
