Charger will not start charging; app shows E101 and vehicle does not transition from 'plugged in' to 'charging'.

Safety first: Turn OFF the Enphase EV charger breaker at the main panel and verify the charger status LEDs are off before touching the cable or opening any covers.

• Inspect the J1772 connector: Look closely at the small pilot pin (usually the thinner pin). Check for bent, recessed, or corroded metal. Clean light corrosion with a dry, soft brush only. Do not use liquids.
• Check the cable for damage: Run your hand along the entire length of the Enphase charge cable. Look for cuts, kinks, crushed sections, or melted insulation. If any damage is found, stop using the charger and plan to replace the cable assembly.
• Re-seat the connector: With power still OFF, plug the connector firmly into the vehicle, then unplug it several times to ensure a solid mechanical fit. Turn the breaker back ON and see if the error clears.
• Power cycle the charger: Turn the breaker OFF for 2 minutes, then ON again. Wait for the charger to boot and check if E101 clears in the Enphase app.
• If the error persists: The pilot driver circuit on the main control board or the cable assembly is likely faulty. Do not open the sealed electronics enclosure yourself; contact an Enphase-authorized technician to test pilot voltage and replace the cable or control board as needed.
