Possible Causes

Damaged Type 2 plug proximity pin, Faulty control pilot (CP) circuit on EO main PCB, Bent or contaminated pins in vehicle inlet, Damaged EO charging cable

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off the circuit breaker feeding the EO charger and verify the unit is de‑energized before touching the plug or opening the enclosure.

  • Inspect the Type 2 connector: Look closely at the PP (proximity) and CP (control pilot) pins in the EO tethered cable or socket. Check for bent pins, corrosion, burn marks, or debris. Clean gently with a soft brush and electrical contact cleaner; do not use metal tools that can deform pins.
  • Try a different vehicle or cable (if socketed model): If your EO charger has a Type 2 socket, test with another known‑good cable and, if possible, another EV. If the error disappears with a different cable, replace the faulty cable.
  • Check cable strain relief: On tethered EO units, gently flex the cable near the gland/strain relief while the unit is powered and attempting to start (do not touch bare conductors). If the error appears/disappears with movement, the internal conductors may be damaged and the cable assembly should be replaced.
  • Inspect main PCB connections: With power off and cover removed, verify the pilot signal wiring from the main PCB to the contactor/cable terminals is secure and not damaged. Look for loose screws, discoloration, or melted insulation.
  • Reset the charger: Restore power at the breaker, wait 60 seconds, and attempt a new charging session. If E01 persists after cable and inlet checks, the pilot circuit on the main PCB is likely faulty and the board should be replaced by a qualified technician.
