Possible Causes
Blocked ventilation around EO charger, High ambient temperature exceeding rating, Failed internal temperature sensor on PCB, Loose or overheated power terminals
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Overheating can damage insulation and components. If you smell burning or see smoke, isolate power immediately and do not reuse the charger until inspected.
- Check ambient conditions: Ensure the EO charger is not installed in direct sunlight or in an enclosed, unventilated space. Measure ambient temperature; if it exceeds the unit's rated operating range, improve ventilation or shading.
- Inspect for obstructions: Make sure no objects are blocking any vents or cooling paths on or around the charger. Maintain the clearance distances specified in the EO installation manual.
- Examine internal connections: With power off and cover removed, inspect line, neutral, and contactor terminals for signs of overheating: darkened insulation, melted plastic, or discolored copper. Re‑torque loose terminals and replace any heat‑damaged components.
- Check temperature sensor: Locate the thermistor or temperature sensor on the main PCB or heat sink. Ensure it is firmly attached and not physically damaged. A sensor that has detached from the heat sink can cause false over‑temperature readings.
- Allow cool‑down and reset: Let the charger cool for at least 30–60 minutes with power off. Restore power and attempt a short charging session while monitoring temperature. If E05 recurs quickly under normal load, the temperature sensing circuit or PCB may need replacement.
