Possible Causes

High earth impedance at EO charger, Disconnected or loose earth conductor, Corroded earth bar or terminal, Faulty earth monitoring circuit on EO PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: An earth fault can present a serious shock risk. Do not bypass or defeat earth monitoring. Only a qualified electrician should test and repair earth connections.

  • Visual inspection: With power isolated, verify that the earth conductor is securely connected to the EO charger's earth terminal and that the terminal is tight and free of corrosion.
  • Check upstream earth: Inspect the distribution board earth bar and any junction boxes between the board and the charger. Tighten loose screws and clean corroded connections.
  • Measure earth loop impedance: Using an approved earth loop impedance tester, measure at the EO charger. Compare results with local regulations and EO installation requirements. If impedance is too high, investigate cable size, length, and connections.
  • Inspect bonding: Ensure that any required bonding (e.g., to local metalwork) is present and intact, especially in installations using PME or TT earthing systems.
  • PCB earth sensing: If all physical earth connections test correctly and E06 persists, the earth monitoring circuit on the EO main PCB may be faulty and require replacement.
