Possible Causes

Shorted CP to ground in cable or vehicle inlet, Broken CP conductor in tethered cable, Loose CP terminal on EO main PCB, Water ingress into Type 2 connector causing CP fault

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Isolate power before opening the charger or handling internal wiring. Do not attempt to repair a damaged cable by splicing; replace it.

  • Inspect the Type 2 plug and socket: Look for moisture, corrosion, or foreign objects around the CP pin. Dry any moisture thoroughly and clean light corrosion with contact cleaner.
  • Check cable integrity: On tethered EO chargers, gently flex the cable along its length while visually inspecting for cuts, kinks, or crushed sections. Any visible damage warrants full cable replacement.
  • Test with another vehicle/cable: If your EO unit has a socket, try a different Type 2 cable and, if possible, another EV. If E07 only occurs with one cable or vehicle, the fault is likely external to the charger.
  • Inspect CP wiring inside charger: With power off and cover removed, trace the CP conductor from the terminal block or contactor to the main PCB. Ensure all screw terminals are tight and that the conductor insulation is intact.
  • Continuity test (qualified persons): Perform a continuity test on the CP conductor from the PCB to the plug/socket. An open circuit indicates a broken wire; a low resistance to earth indicates a short. Replace the affected cable or connector assembly.
  • Replace PCB if internal fault: If external wiring and cable test good, the CP driver/sensing circuit on the main PCB may be defective and should be replaced.
