Possible Causes

Vehicle drawing current above configured limit, Incorrect current limit configuration in EO charger, Faulty internal current transformer (CT), Loose wiring through CT core

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Overcurrent can overheat wiring. If you notice hot cables or a burning smell, isolate power immediately.

  • Check configured current limit: Using the EO app or installer interface, verify that the maximum charging current is correctly set for the supply cable size and breaker rating.
  • Review vehicle settings: Some EVs allow the user to set a charge current. Ensure the vehicle is not configured to request more current than the EO charger is rated to supply.
  • Inspect CT and wiring: With power off, locate the internal current transformer around the output conductors. Ensure the conductors pass cleanly through the CT core and that the CT leads are firmly connected to the main PCB.
  • Check for overheating: Examine the output terminals and cable insulation for signs of overheating. Tighten any loose terminals and replace heat‑damaged components.
  • Test with reduced current: Temporarily reduce the EO charger's current limit (if supported) and attempt a charge. If E08 disappears at lower current but returns at higher current, verify that the supply circuit and charger rating are adequate.
  • Replace CT or PCB if faulty: If wiring and configuration are correct and E08 persists, the internal current sensor (CT) or its interface on the PCB may be defective and should be replaced.
