Possible Causes
Low insulation resistance between line/neutral and earth in charger output, Moisture inside Type 2 connector or cable, Damaged insulation on internal wiring, Faulty insulation monitoring circuit on PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: An insulation fault can cause electric shock. Do not attempt to bypass isolation monitoring. Isolate power before inspection.
- Check for moisture: Inspect the Type 2 plug, socket, and cable glands for signs of water ingress. Dry thoroughly and, if seals are compromised, replace the affected connector or gland.
- Visual inspection of wiring: With the cover removed and power off, look for nicks, cuts, or crushed insulation on internal conductors, especially where they pass through glands or around sharp edges.
- Insulation resistance test (qualified electrician): Disconnect the charger output from the internal circuitry as per EO service instructions and perform an insulation resistance test between line/neutral and earth. Values below manufacturer or regulatory thresholds indicate a fault.
- Check cable routing: Ensure that no conductor is pinched between the enclosure and cover and that all grommets and bushings are correctly installed.
- Replace damaged components: Replace any cable, connector, or wiring harness with compromised insulation. If all external components test good, the insulation monitoring circuit on the PCB may be faulty and require replacement.
