Possible Causes

Damaged Type 2 connector proximity pin, Bent or contaminated connector pins, Faulty proximity pilot circuit on main control board, Defective charging cable assembly

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power to the EVBox charger at the dedicated breaker before touching the connector pins or opening any covers. Do not work on live circuits.

  • Inspect the vehicle connector: With power off, examine the Type 2 plug for bent, recessed, or contaminated pins (especially the small proximity pin). Clean light dirt with a dry, lint‑free cloth only. Do not use metal tools inside the connector.
  • Check cable strain: Look for kinks, crushed sections, or cuts along the EVBox cable. If the cable sheath is damaged or copper is visible, discontinue use and plan to replace the cable assembly.
  • Test with another EV (if available): If E001 appears with multiple vehicles, the fault is likely in the charger, not the car.
  • Power cycle the charger: Restore power at the breaker, wait 60 seconds, then try a new charging session. Observe if E001 reappears immediately.
  • If the error persists: The proximity pilot circuit on the EVBox main control board or the cable assembly is likely defective. Do not bypass safety circuits. Contact a qualified EVBox service technician to test the pilot circuit and replace the cable or control board as required.
