Possible Causes
Welded main contactor contacts, Burned or pitted relay contacts, Faulty contactor coil, Loose wiring to main power relay on power board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Warning: The main contactor switches high current. Only qualified persons should open the charger. Always isolate power at the main breaker and verify absence of voltage with a meter.
- Listen for relay operation: With the cover on and power restored, start a session and listen for a distinct click. No click suggests a coil or control issue; repeated clicking with E004 suggests welded or failing contacts.
- Visual inspection (qualified): With power off, remove the EVBox cover and locate the main contactor/relay on the power board. Check for discoloration, burn marks, or melted plastic.
- Check terminal tightness: Verify that all line and load terminals on the contactor are tight using an insulated screwdriver. Loose connections can cause overheating and failure.
- Do not attempt to file contacts: Contactor contacts are not user‑serviceable. If there is any sign of overheating or mechanical damage, the contactor or entire power board must be replaced.
- Reassemble and test: After replacing the contactor/power board, reassemble the unit, restore power, and perform a short test charge while monitoring for normal operation.
