Possible Causes

Blocked ventilation around EVgo charger, Failed internal cooling fan, High resistance connections at terminal block, Installation in direct sunlight without shading

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: If the enclosure is too hot to touch comfortably, stop charging and turn OFF the breaker. Overheating can lead to fire.

  • Improve airflow: Ensure the EVgo charger has the manufacturer‑recommended clearance on all sides. Remove storage items or clutter blocking airflow.
  • Add shading: For outdoor units in direct sun, consider adding a shade structure that does not block vents.
  • Inspect connections (technician): With power OFF, a qualified person should check for discolored or loose terminals inside the charger and at the breaker.
  • Check internal fan: Listen for fan operation during charging. If no fan noise is heard on a model that uses active cooling, the fan may have failed.

If overheating persists after improving ventilation, have an EVgo‑authorized technician test and replace the internal cooling fan or repair any high‑resistance connections.
