Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF power at the breaker before inspecting the connector or cable in detail.
- Check connector latch: Ensure the J1772 handle latch moves freely and fully engages when plugged into the vehicle. Remove any visible debris from the latch area.
- Inspect connector and cable: Look for cracks in the handle body, loose latch spring, or obvious damage where the cable enters the handle. Flex the cable gently near the handle; if E06 appears or disappears when flexed, the proximity conductor may be broken.
- Test on another vehicle: Plug into a different EV to rule out a worn or misaligned vehicle inlet that prevents full insertion.
- Reset charger: Turn the breaker OFF for 2 minutes, then ON and retry.
If E06 continues, the EVgo J1772 handle assembly or cable harness likely needs replacement. An EVgo‑authorized technician can also verify the proximity input circuit on the control board.
