Charger shows E08 and stops charging; may occur when multiple loads are running in the home.

Safety first: Turn OFF the breaker before inspection. Overcurrent conditions can overheat wiring.

• 1. Verify breaker size: Confirm that the circuit breaker feeding the EvoCharge unit matches the charger’s nameplate rating (e.g., 40 A EVSE on 50 A breaker). An oversized breaker can allow excessive current.
• 2. Check configuration: If your EvoCharge model supports adjustable current, access the settings (via DIP switches, rotary dial, or app) and ensure the maximum current is set correctly for the circuit.
• 3. Inspect output cable: Look for melted insulation, burn marks, or deformation along the EvoCharge cable and at the J1772 connector. Any sign of overheating requires cable replacement.
• 4. Internal current sensor check (advanced): With power OFF, locate the current transformer (CT) around the output conductor(s). Ensure the conductor passes through the CT correctly and that the CT connector is firmly seated on the control board.
• 5. Retest at lower current: If possible, temporarily reduce the charger’s maximum current setting and test. If E08 disappears at lower current, suspect a marginal connection or failing CT.

Persistent overcurrent faults or evidence of overheating should be addressed by a qualified electrician or EVSE technician.
