Possible Causes

Damaged J1772 charge handle, Bent or contaminated pilot pin in connector, Faulty control board pilot driver circuit, Damaged vehicle inlet (EV side)

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn OFF the charger’s dedicated breaker before touching the connector or opening any covers. Do not work on the unit in wet conditions.

  • Inspect the J1772 connector: Look closely at the small pilot pin (usually the thinner pin). Check for bent, recessed, or corroded contacts. Clean light debris with a soft, dry brush only—no liquids.
  • Check for physical damage: Examine the FLO charge cable and handle for cuts, kinks, or crushed sections. If the cable jacket is damaged or copper is visible, stop using the charger and replace the cable/handle assembly.
  • Test with another EV (if possible): If another vehicle charges normally, the issue may be with the original vehicle’s inlet. If no vehicles will charge, the fault is likely in the charger.
  • Power-cycle the unit: Turn OFF the breaker for 2 minutes, then turn it back ON. Reconnect to the EV and observe if E01 clears.
  • If E01 persists: The pilot driver circuit on the main control board may be faulty. At this point, contact FLO support or a qualified technician to test and, if needed, replace the main control board or J1772 cable/handle assembly.
