Possible Causes

Open ground conductor in branch circuit, Loose ground lug inside charger, Corroded or damaged ground connection at service panel, Faulty ground detection circuit on control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Do not operate the charger without a proper equipment ground. Turn OFF the breaker before inspection.

  • Verify ground continuity: Have an electrician test continuity between the charger ground terminal and the main service ground/earth.
  • Inspect ground conductor: With power OFF, check that the ground wire is securely landed in the charger’s ground lug and at the panel. Tighten to manufacturer torque specs.
  • Look for corrosion: In outdoor installations, inspect for rust or corrosion on ground lugs and bonding points. Clean or replace as needed.
  • Power-cycle: After correcting any ground issues, reset the breaker and test again.
  • If E06 remains with a verified good ground: The ground detection circuit on the main control board may be defective and require replacement.
