Possible Causes
Weak or sticking main contactor, Marginal coil voltage from power supply, Misconfigured current limit set to 0 A, Vehicle set to delay charging without schedule visible
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the breaker before opening the charger.
- 1. Check app settings: In FordPass, verify that no delayed charging schedule is active and that the charger’s maximum current is not set to 0 A or a very low value.
- 2. Listen for contactor: When plugging in, listen for a click. If there is none, the contactor may not be receiving a proper signal.
- 3. Power-cycle: Turn OFF the breaker for 2 minutes, then ON, and attempt to charge again.
- 4. Internal inspection: With power OFF, inspect the contactor and its wiring. Look for mechanical obstruction or signs of overheating.
- 5. Professional diagnosis: If the contactor coil is not energizing despite correct commands, a technician should test coil voltage and replace the contactor or power supply as needed.
