Possible Causes

Jammed Type 2 socket locking pin, Failed lock actuator motor, Broken lock position sensor or microswitch, Damaged lock mechanism due to forced cable removal

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power before working on the lock mechanism.

  • Inspect socket area: Check the Type 2 socket for foreign objects, ice, or debris around the locking pin area. Gently remove any obstruction.
  • Listen for lock motor: When plugging in or unplugging (with power ON), you should hear a brief motor sound. If silent, the actuator may have failed or lost power.
  • Access lock assembly: With power OFF, remove the front cover and locate the socket lock actuator assembly behind the Type 2 socket. Check wiring to the actuator and lock position sensor/microswitch.
  • Manual movement: If possible, gently move the lock pin by hand to ensure it is not seized. Do not force it; if it is stuck, the mechanism should be replaced.
  • Replace faulty parts: If the actuator motor or sensor is defective, replace the complete Garo lock assembly or the specific actuator module as recommended by Garo.
